BROOKLYN, NY --- Ramoye Simon, the most decorated Track & Field student-athlete in ASA's young history, has signed a National Letter of Intent to continue his academic and athletic career at Hampton University, a NCAA Division I member of the Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference.
Simon is the first member of Head Coach Christopher Mills' inagural class to move on to a Division I college.
Mills said of Simon: "He embodies everything that a coach looks for in a student-athlete: a hard-working student, a relentless athlete, and an overall driven individual. From Day 1, Ramoye earned his keep by fully committing himself to ASA and the scholarship he's earned at Hampton is the welcome result."
Simon leaves ASA at the first athlete to compete in four NJCAA National Championships - 2012 Indoors (Illinois) & Outdoors (Texas) and 2013 Indoors (Texas) & Outdoors (Kansas). He was also a part of the first ASA teams to compete at the prestigious Penn Relays and Millrose Games.
"I am excited for the opportunity to continue on at Hampton. ," said Simon about signing with the Pirates. "I plan to do for Hampton what I did for ASA - compete as hard as I can, better myself as a student & an athlete, and finish my time with my degree."
"I am grateful for Coach Mills and Coach Brandon (Division of Business Professor) believing in me and helping me to maximize my talents during my time here."
Simon will join a Pirates program that finished the 2012-13 campaign as Runners-Up in the MEAC Indoor Championships before claiming the conference Outdoor title.
